Welcome to my motherhood and lifestyle website. I am so glad you are here. On The Pretty Little Home I share my passion for all things baby, motherhood and lifestyle.
Nantucket: one of the most beautiful places you can visit!
We decided to book a last minute trip to Rhode Island which included visiting Newport, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. It’s roughly a 3-4 hour drive from New York City. It was the best decision we made due to all the different travel restrictions in place. It felt so nice to “get away” without getting on a plane!
Nantucket has always been on my bucket list & I am sure after reading this, it will be on yours as well!
Nantucket does have an airport, but since we drove from NYC, we booked a round trip ferry. There’s a couple options as to where you can take it from and some ferries even allow you to bring your car (with an extra cost of course). We took the Seastreak Ferry from New Bedford, MA. It was a little over an hour and a half one way!
The Seastreak port was great, it offered Valet Parking for your car making it so easy traveling to and from Nantucket.
We planned only a day trip, so we didn’t get to explore the Island as much as we would have liked to, but there’s always a next time because we are DEFINITELY going back!
Once we got off the ferry, we went into the city center for breakfast. We stumbled across Black-Eyed Susan’s. Their eggs benedict was delicious!
We then rented bikes from Cook’s Cycle Shop which was very close to the ferry. Everyone said the best way to explore Nantucket is by renting bikes & we are so happy we did! We definitely saw a lot more of the island then we would have if we explored by foot.
Cycling around Nantucket really gives you the opportunity to take in all the beauty, beaches and gardens this island has to offer. We stumbled across some of the most beautiful cottages and hydrangeas!
The island is covered in hydrangeas! It’s like a cotton candy dream! These cottages will make you want to plant hydrangeas all over your yard!
We also went to see the Brant Point which was very close to the ferry. It was beautiful and gorgeous cottages on the way there!
After a few hours of cycling, we were exhausted and went back to the Nantucket City Center by the ferry to grab some food. We ate at The Tavern and their Lobster Roll and Cape Cod-Wich was amazing! There were other places we wanted to check out but due to COVID, things were limited.
Next time we go back, we will definitely do more than just a day trip. The island has so much to offer that you are just unable to cover in 6 hours. We are looking forward to going back one day!
